Tradition – Pollutant of Truth

TRADITION—the POLLUTANT OF TRUTH

Matt 15:3-8

3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’  5 But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,’ 6 he is not to ‘honor his father’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

Mark 7:9-13

9 And he said to them: “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’  11 But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: ‘Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban’ (that is, a gift devoted to God), 12 then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many

2 Thess 3:6

6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

 1 Peter 1:18-21

18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

The most difficult matter that Jesus had to deal with was RELIGIOUS TRADITION. It strangled God’s people with man made laws and practices and few knew the difference between that which was Biblical, and that which was purely the creation of religious man. And, so it is today. We are obsessed with that which is nowhere to be found in the New Testament, pagan holy-days, the Tithe, Women leading and teaching men and a pre-tribulation rapture to mention just a few—–and yet, many believe that the Church is just OK. It’s not OK. It is Laodacea. It is near worthless and deficient of true value and sound doctrine. It believes that you can sprinkle a little jesus dust on just about anything and make it acceptable. Judgement begins in this place. Danny McDowell
1 Peter 4:17-19
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
