01. Last Day

1. LAST DAY LESSON

               In modern eschatological theology it is broadly taught that the GATHERING of the Church is an imminent event; in that the Church could be gathered together to be with Christ at any moment. In addition to this doctrine, it is purported that this “imminent” event has been so since the Day of Pentecost in 30 ad. This lesson is one of many to discharge this doctrine as a one hundred seventy five year old heresy. Let’s see what the New Testament says about the Last Day

What Jesus had to say about the Last Day

John 6:39-44

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day

John 6:54

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

  • what do the words “last day” mean to you?
  • how does the “doctrine of imminence” fit into this declaration?

What the saints under the OLD COVENANT believed

 John 11:22-24

22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

John 12:48

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

  • According to the word of God, there is no possibility of a “resurrection” until——–The LAST DAY! This alone eliminates any possibility of an imminent Rapture!

THE ANGELS

       In pre-tribulation theology it is said that “hundreds of millions of Christians will suddenly DISAPPEAR” in the “IMMINENT RAPTURE”. Lets see how the Elect will be gathered according to the New Testament.

Matt 13:37-49

37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world [age]: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

Matt 24:29-32

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Mark 13:24-28

24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

 27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

It is commonly taught in this heretical position [the Doctrine of imminence], that the gathering [rapture] is a silent event—–and will not be witnessed by the world. It is commonly declared that the Elect will simply disappear at the sounding of a trumpet that no one but the Elect will hear. Let’s see what the New Testament says about the “SILENT RAPTURE”.

COMING IN CLOUDS OF GLORY

Matt 24:27-30

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Luke 21:25-26

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

 1 Thess 4:16-18

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,

  •  with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God,

and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Rev 1:7

7 Look, he is coming with the clouds,

and every eye will see him,

even those who pierced him;

and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him.

            So shall it be! Amen.

There is NOTHING in the DOCTRINE OF IMMINENCE that is scripturally wholesome. It is thoroughly CORRUPT. The preceding study is only a very SMALL portion of the mountain  of evidence against this doctrine. Danny McDowell
